International comicbook artist and Bishop creator WHILCE PORTACIO started as an inker to Marvel Comics' classic book "Longshot", then later as a penciler on "The Punisher" in 1988. His success drawing "X-Factor" & "Uncanny X-Men" in the 90s gave him the chance to create his own, now fan favorite X-Men character: Bishop. Whilce was also a co-founder of Image Comics, creating "Wetworks". He also released the successful title "Stone" with his long-time friend and co-creator Brian Haberlin (Stone was all-inspired by Filipino mythology). Whilce also released his other book with film and comics writer Glen Brunswick, called "Non-Humans". In 1996, he returned to Marvel to draw "Heroes Reborn: Iron Man" followed by "X-Force". Whilce signed up with DC Comics and released "Stormwatch", "Batman Confidential" and “Superman/Batman”.
